Liturgy brings the mystery of Christ to bear on the urgent needs of our world. Luke’s parable of the “Knock at Midnight” challenges a comfortable, often dormant, church to open its doors to a world desperate for the bread of hope. This confirms for us that the renewal of the liturgy was not about rubrics but about hospitality, welcoming people within and without to share God’s love for the world.
Why aren’t our liturgies always celebrations of hospitality and hope for the world? The Celebration conference will examine the essential elements of worship and preaching, asking what invites an assembly to celebrate liturgy in a manner that opens doors, forms community and inspires ministry, especially on behalf of peace and justice.
If you are a
or a faithful worshipper longing for a deeper understanding of liturgy and its transformative power, join us in Chicago where you'll gain new insights, hear different perspectives and experience creative energy.
